Setup

adapters:
  clickhouse:
    source: local
    path: packages/adapter-clickhouse

services:
  - id: warehouse
    adapter: clickhouse
    name: ClickHouse
    connection:
      method: structured
      host: example.clickhouse.cloud
      protocol: https
      port: 8443
      database: default
      databaseScope: all
      username: default
      password: ${CLICKHOUSE_PASSWORD}

Use HTTP/8123 for a local server without TLS. In Compose, use the service name as host. Endpoints, proxy connections and certificates belong to the DSUI server. URL mode uses method: url and an HTTP(S) url; its path is a reverse-proxy prefix, while database is configured separately. Native TCP ports are not supported.

Connections

Supports basic/passwordless authentication, static bearer/JWT tokens, custom CA and client certificates, HTTP(S) proxies with CONNECT, reverse-proxy paths/headers, private network endpoints and externally managed tunnels. Server certificate verification remains enabled. JWTs replace basic credentials and are not refreshed automatically. headersJson and settingsJson configure advanced headers/settings.

databaseScope: selected limits browsing to the configured database; it does not restrict SQL privileges. Use a restricted server role or readOnly: true for inspection. showSystemDatabases defaults to false.

Available

This adapter is in preview. Its pages are Overview, Data, Query and Activity.

  • Overview dashboard with catalog metrics, database cards and largest tables.

  • Database/table/view explorer, column metadata, keys, engine details, DDL and previews.

  • Database-aware query editor, typed results, CSV export, active queries and cancellation.

  • Table-level parts, projections, skipping indexes and mutation inspection.

Queries default to 1,000 rows, 16 MiB of output and a 60-second execution limit. Results fail explicitly when limits are exceeded. Requests do not share session state; run one statement at a time without an explicit output FORMAT clause. Cancellation requests server termination and cannot undo writes already applied. Inspection is endpoint-local and depends on system-table permissions and enabled logs. Some logs may arrive late. Missing inspection permissions do not block connection setup.

Signals

clickhouse.query-succeeded and clickhouse.query-failed include operation, database, duration and row count where available. They do not include query text or credentials. They cover SQL submitted through the query action.

Remaining work

Cluster-wide aggregation, dedicated access/backup management and streaming file transfer workflows remain planned. Large file imports and Parquet downloads do not have a dedicated UI yet; existing bounded query results support CSV export. See the repository’s packages/adapter-clickhouse/COVERAGE.md for the detailed ledger.
